I’m thrilled to hear this morning that my YA novel URSA is a finalist in the NZ Children’s Book Awards for Children & Young Adults! One thing I’d like to share with you all is that Ursa was in my bottom drawer for years – nobody seemed interested in publishing it, then one day I dug it out and sent it to a competition and it ended up being published after all. So, the moral here: don’t give up on your earlier work.
