I have just had occasion to refer to my reverse dictionary. It’s a hard copy book I have had for years and have used on and off. It’s a  handy tool to have in y our writing toolbox. A reverse dictionary works like this; you describe a concept or a subject and it gives you all the words and phrases related to that concept. It is guaranteed to expand your vocabulary as well as give you the you the word you need.

Of course, there are now on-line versions. I’ve had look at a few and I think the best could be  Onelook.  https://www.onelook.com/reverse- dictionary.shtml or just google it.
