The various forms of travel writing

1 Writing about the Industry of Tourism

2 Straight information which tells people how to go somewhere and what there is to do when they get there.

3 Public relations – travel writing in which the virtues of a place are expounded often through rose tinted glasses and usually as a result of the writer having been encouraged to go there or sponsored to go there.

    4. True travel writing where knowledge, imagination and observation are employed to convey the essence of a place or experience. It celebrates the differences in manners, and customs and lifestyles noting diverse situations but not sitting in judgement of them.

It is not really difficult to be published as a travel writer but turning out really good travel writing takes observation, imagination, humour, good researching skills and a good vocabulary as well as the ability to write well.
