    David Pardon R.I.P.

With sadness we announce the death of David Pardon, our senior tutor. David had a stroke last week, from which he did not recover.

He lived a full life with many achievements. David’s media career began as a youth in Sheffield, England and progressed through various newspaper reporter roles and magazine editorships in New Zealand.

He became a tutor for our Institute in 1998 and had a beneficial influence on 2964 students’ lives.

Carol and Brian Morris will represent all our students at the family memorial service in October.

If you’d like to write your remembrance of David Pardon below we will convey your messages to David’s wife and family. Thank you.

I’m really sorry to hear of Davids passing. I found him to be a most excellent tutor. His words were always positive and encouraging and gave me the confidence to continue on to the next assignment. I’m sorry to be continuing my writing journey without his guidance, but he has given me a good start! You never forget a good teacher.

Please pass on my deepest condolences to his family at this incredibly sad time.

I am so sorry to hear about David’s death. It came as a bit of a shock really … although I did not have David as a tutor, I feel like everyone on the SDB is part of an amazing whanau. I have been absent for quite some time really, completing a Graduate Diploma in early childhood education and then going through the process of registration. But now I have a real hankering to get writing again and on perusing the different forums, I discovered this news. God bless, David. x

    Join in. Post something.

Share some of the specialised knowledge you picked up during your time away on study leave.

I remember David when he was an editor on Sea Spray magazine <?> and I was a writer on the New Zealand Woman’s Weekly back in 1981-1984.  I also worked briefly alongside his daughter-in-law Fran towards the end of that time before we both left to have babies!   Thinking of you all at this time of great loss in your lives.
