I’m sorry I was unexpectedly absent for the last four months.

I am now back on track and looking forward to seeing your assignments again.

Reading the ones I have seen over the last few days, it’s been heartening to realise how hugely students have improved in the time I’ve been away (hopefully not <i>because</i>I  have been away!)
