Aspiring Travel writers might consider joining New Zealand Travel Communicators (Travcom) at http://www.travcom.org.nz, which is a not-for-profit association of travel writers, photographers, broadcasters and travel-related communicators involved in promoting a high standard of travel writing, photography and publishing in New Zealand and internationally.
It is a great meeting place and a way of getting yourself known and has interesting speakers at the meetings that are held every few weeks. There is a chapter in Auckland one in Wellington.
Every year awards are presented at a grand dinner and among the categories is one for unpublished writers.
