“Thanks for pointing me to where the jackpot is.

“I well remember after 11 weeks in hospital and with no job to go to, and not having the money to pay my course fees. I asked you if I could pay my fees on the by-and-by. You sent me a cheque. I never forgot that. Not only are you a clever man, you’re also a good man.

“Now, nine books and millions of magazine articles later, plus 22 years of weekly columns in three newspapers, I remember you fondly.

“Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2016.”   Hans Willems.

“Taking photos is something I have loved doing for years. I have learned so much through this course and I will always be grateful for this opportunity to learn more. Thank you tutor Robert for your very constructive feedback and encouragement, even when my photos were not so good. I loved getting my assignments back from you.” Janne Sergison, Christchurch

Chris Adkins was given a camera by his son back in 2003. Recently he decided to move up from using only the auto mode. “I needed to know how to use its menu properly. The NZIBS Beginner‟s Digital Photography course seemed the right place to start. With my tutor‟s encouragement I began to compose photos rather than just „take snaps‟. I enjoy being creative, adding life and character and understanding photo composition.
“This training has opened a new and exciting hobby for me, so now I have upgraded to a better camera which does from macro to zoom (24mm – 720mm). The camera’s ability will keep me happily learning for a while.
“I love the outdoors and photograph whatever catches my eye. I do it for the fun and enjoyment. I enjoy being in the background of formal occasions (seeing things from a different angle), getting shots the professionals don’t get.
“I send the good ones to the subjects as my gift and their responses excite me, compelling me to do even better.
“I compile photobooks for people which record their lives. I capture them being passionate about their hobbies and personal successes. This is all very rewarding and worthwhile. I have begun a fascinating journey.”   Chris Adkins

So many of our photographers are shy about their achievements. Too many.
