Students give their reviews of courses at New Zealand Institute of Business Studies I'm a graduate of NZIBS' Editing and Proofreading Diploma course. It's a very practical and enjoyable course, gently leading the student into the prospect of setting up a freelance proofreading/editing business, or towards employment in the publishing industry. Since graduating in Feb 2009 I have had my first (paid and regular) magazine editing job, and look forward to many more, once I start advertising! Some years ago I signed up for the Creative Writing course which I thoroughly enjoyed. Two years ago I embarked on the Editing & Proofreading course. In both instances the support and encouragement I received was excellent, and I got such a kick out of getting assignments back and seeing how I'd done. I would, and do, recommend NZIBS to anyone contemplating this kind of study. I have recently graduated from NZIBS in Writing for Children. I thoroughly enjoyed this course, packed with fantastic information, tutoring and encouraging supportive feedback. I found it very worthwhile and with the excellent suggestions, I've developed a more disciplined approach to my writing. Thank you. I wanted to do the Freelance Journalism course to improve my writing technique at work. After graduating I stumbled across a local business wanting to increase its global profile. I submitted some PR concepts - which they liked and I now have a moonlighting job writing their press releases! I would never have had the confidence to do this prior to doing the course. Thanks NZIBS for your guidance and support. The course has been great value for money - and money that I will now easily recoup! I enjoyed my proofreading course so much I was almost sorry when I graduated. The institute has a wonderful team who encourage and support you all the way. I'd love to do this course all over again. In late 2008 I graduated from the NZIBS Freelance Travel Writer and Photographer course.I took the course to improve my writing and grammar and to keep my mind active post retirement. I had no intention of offering my work for publication. I appreciated the objective advice and encouragement offered by my tutor, and felt the course covered aspects of writing, marketing and the law clearly and concisely. Thanks to NZIBS I am now enjoying the thrill of seeing my work published in newspapers and magazines and am actually being paid for it! Josie In 2003 I graduated from the NZIBS Writing Stories for Children course and when I was looking for further training in the field of editing and proofreading, I didn't hesitate to sign up with NZIBS again. Their courses are professionally and efficiently run. The support students receive from tutors and staff is fantastic and continues long after you graduate. They truly wish success and achievement for all their students. Vanessa Hatley-Owen www.doublecheckit.co.nz I'm currently completing the Digital Photography course through NZIBS and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I've found the tutor really helpful and constructive when marking assignments and the student discussion board helps you not to feel isolated. When I finish I won't have any hesitation signing up with them to complete the advanced level. I graduated from the NZIBS course in Freelance Journalism in 2004, and enjoyed it so much they were my first choice when I looked for further education in the creative writing field. I graduated from their Creative Writing programme in early 2009. Their support by post, phone and online was invaluable as a student, and their graduates club membership still provides me with support. Kushla Haenen, Freelance Writer. The NZIBS Proofreading and Editing course provides invaluable training and experience. You learn at your own pace, the tutors are friendly and supportive and the office staff are marvellous. Each tutorial reinforces earlier lessons and there are plenty of practice examples. The Student Discussion Board means that friendly support from other students is only a message away. The Institute's ongoing postgraduate support is invaluable. I would highly recommend NZIBS's learning experience to anyone who wants to develop new skills or hobbies. Judith Chaffe www.ieditandproofread.co.nz . The NZIBS provides high quality professional courses and I am delighted with the support I have received all year from tutors, administration team and fellow students. I would recommend this Institute to anyone wanting to develop their skills. Nathalie (PROOFREADER & EDITOR course)
