Journalism students may have previously been limited to working for the ‘local rag’ or maybe a national daily or weekend newspaper. Today, budding fiction writers have the opportunity to self publish on places like Amazon, and for a fraction of the cost too. There is an age-old adage that is as true today as when it was first mooted. “Everyone has at least one good book in them” - The problem with this is that most people never get around to writing it because they never take the plunge and try!
